I grew up on the tiny island of St. Croix watching my parents practice preventative medicine. They taught me the importance of good health, and their lessons stayed with me through my adult life. I have always believed in preventive rather than reactive medicine. So with a background in massage therapy, it made sense to pursue a residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation where I focused on improving the function of my patients. But, something was still missing. I wanted to treat the entire person, not just the neuromuscular system. This led me to functional medicine.
